Arts in Health projects
Over the last 30 years I have worked with people experiencing all kinds of difficult situations and emotional states. These have included bereavement, mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, eating disorders, relationship issues with family, partners or at work and conditions such as ADD or Autism. My approach to therapy is straightforward and as transparent as possible. I believe good communications are at the heart of a helpful therapeutic relationship based on trust. I welcome enquiries from individuals or couples of any age, ability, gender, sexuality, race, culture or religion.
Initially an appointment is made either by phone or online to meet each other and discuss the possibility of working together. If we decide to go ahead, an agreement is made about how and when this happens. Individual sessions are usually weekly for one hour but can be at longer intervals. Couples sessions are usually 80 minutes at agreed intervals. I offer both short and long term work. For work with groups please contact me to discuss the requirements.
I work carefully, checking with you about the pace, the content and the aims of your therapy and regular reviews ensure that we are in agreement about how the work can progress. Any questions, doubts or concerns will be met with full consideration. Each session typically consists of a combination of art making and conversation. The artwork forms a visible record of our work together.
Venue
The therapy space is my studio in a rural setting near Crickhowell. There is no public transport, unfortunately, so a car is essential. The studio is a peaceful haven from everyday life and being so close to nature enables us to observe the yearly cycles and think about how the natural processes of change, growth, loss and renewal may show us something about our own lives.
